So the 2016 Gibsons are out, and they look very conservative but pretty good. They’ve gone back to 2012 and 2013 and are keeping well away from such controversies as auto Tuners.

But what is this? just as we’ve got our head around the new Traditional models, Gibson have announced a parallel line, the High Performance range. So now you have a choice of an SG Standard Traditional or a SG Standard HP…..which apparently is better……and much more expensive……and has G-Force tuners.

How fucking stupid is this? I mean Gibson have been selling guitars for over 120 years but act as if they have never sold a guitar in their lives. They have effectively announced that those new Traditional guitars, the range that was going to restore confidence in Gibson, those guitars…..sorry, they’re not really our best work. Spend £2,000 on  a new Les Paul Standard expecting it to be the gold standard of Gibsons? Sorry, you’ll have to spend another £400 for the HP version – which also seems to bear an uncanny resemblance to the 2015 Gibson that got them into this mess in the first place.

Really, can you imagine Fender doing this? or PRS? Gibson, stop acting like pricks. That is an order
